Smart home and home sharing: two worlds coming ever closer together

First Amazon with Alexa, and then the other giants of the digital world have filled our homes with "Smart" devices. In recent years, this technology has entered the short term rental sector in a big way, radically transforming the way hosts manage their homes and welcome their guests. In this panel we will talk to some of the companies developing smart technologies for the hospitality industry.

He is a co-Founder of Ciaobooking, a start-up that develops technologies for hospitality networks. He is CEO of Truly Italy, a tour operator and property manager in the most beautiful Italian destinations.

Paolo Zennaro

Consultant

Paolo Zennaro is a Venetian entrepreneur and IT consultant, born in 1982. For more than 20 years he has been assisting and managing companies and businesses in the IT sector throughout Italy and abroad. In 2008 he co-founded Blackpirates Group, an entrepreneurial entity formed by a group of professionals working in the field of home automation, IT, software development, web portals and digital/editorial graphics. In March 2019, he co-founded Welcomeasy, an innovative start-up in the tourism sector, with the aim of breaking down the bureaucracy in hospitality by facilitating all stages of check-in and beyond. In November 2019, the Welcomeasy app was released onto the Italian market. The idea was born mainly in order to support tourist facilities that often find it difficult to handle the bureaucracy and administration of check-in staff.

Walter Colitti

Consultant

Walter Colitti is co-founder and CEO of Modosmart, a company created to bring Smart Home technology to the non-hotel sector quickly, easily and cost-effectively. The company created the MODO product, an intelligent air conditioning control solution that helps owners and operators save money, time and hassle. Before starting his entrepreneurial career, he spent more than a decade in research and development in Internet of Things technologies. He worked as a researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where he also obtained a PhD in Engineering. He obtained a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from the University of Perugia. He was an independent consultant for six years, helping companies finance and manage research and development projects from the University of Brussels. He has been living in Spain for 5 years where he founded the start-up of which he is currently CEO.
