Seniors on holiday: what they want and how to win them over

The over 65s have free time on their hands, the ability to spend money and a great desire to travel and pursue their passions. According to ISTAT data, pre-Covid tourist spending on accommodation and catering services by Italians in the "silver" age can be estimated at around 5 billion Euros a year, to which a further 7 billion Euros should be added for recreation, entertainment and culture. No less important is the economic impact of senior foreign tourists, which is worth 5 another billion and is led by Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the United States. What aspects should not be underestimated in travel proposals and how to capture your target market and build loyalty.

Nicola Montanari

Montanari Tour Sales Manager

Nicola Montanari has been with the company for ten years and, as Sales Manager, is responsible for offering groups trips, holidays and tours in Italy, particularly throughout Romagna. He is currently the youngest company employee, but still brings over twenty years of experience. Taking after his father, the ‘boss’, he puts the office first but always takes time to enjoy the fresh Rimini sea air. After gaining his high school diploma from the Technical Institute of Tourism in 2006, he studied for a Bachelor’s degree in Diplomatic and International Sciences at the University of Bologna’s Forlì campus. Afterwards, he enrolled in the Mass Media and Politics Master's degree. Nicola has been working full-time with the company since 2011.

Gabriel Pesaresi

Gabriel Pesaresi has extensive experience in the tourism sector. From 1996 to 2003 he worked for the groups department of Eden Viaggi, going on to be Itermar's Sales Director for almost six years. From 2009 to 2019, he was the Sales and Marketing Director of tour operator, The One. After working for SM Events Tour Operator as a Sales Marketing Executive, he joined San Marino International as the Sales Director in January 2020.
