Cycle ways have increased and one of the key experiences of local tourism is the experience of travelling on two wheels in a group of people. Cycling and cycling tourism as a solution for seasonal adjustment and economic recovery.

Alberica Di Carpegna

FIAB, Italian Federation for Environment and Bicycle

Project and communication manager of FIAB Italian Federation for the Environment and Cycling. She supervises and coordinates European cycling projects related to urban mobility and tourism, such as the LIFE SIC2SIC project (https://lifesic2sic.eu/ ), which for 3 years crossed 7 regions and covered more than 6000 km to discover the Natura 2000 network and protect biodiversity by bicycle. Awareness-raising activities took place in schools, with public administrators and parks, involving more than 6,600 citizens in the public stages.

Valerio Montieri

FIAB, Designer and National Councilor

As an architect, he works on projects that combine cycling, environmental restoration and landscape redevelopment. He has supervised the projects for a bicycle connection between the Milan waterways and the Ticino Park, the redevelopment of the Lura river shaft, and studies for bicycle accessibility to Malpensa and Florence's airports. He is designing the cycling redevelopment of the waterfront in Genoa and the Bike Park system in Bologna. He drafted, as a team, the Cycling Guidelines for the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Lombardy Cycling Mobility Plan. In the field of training, he has held courses for the Lombardy Region's 'Life Prepair' project, design courses for BikeItalia Srl and collaborates on technical publications. He is a national councillor of FIAB and a member of the FIAB Study Centre.
