The industry has reformed its offerings, implemented health protocols and revised passenger boarding and disembarkation procedures. Now it is time to set sail for calmer waters. Let's see how.

Kevin Bubolz

Norwegian Cruise Line Vice President & Managing Director Europe

Kevin Bubolz was appointed Norwegian Cruise Line's Vice President & Managing Director Europe in March 2018. In this position, he oversees continental Europe, Scandinavia as well as Finland. Bubolz has a successful track record in the travel and cruise industry and is himself a keen cruiser. He started his career in 1997 as a travel agent at TUI Leisure Travel GmbH in Kiel and soon moved to the cruise industry by joining Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. In 2005, Kevin Bubolz moved to NCL's European subsidiary in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he has since worked in various marketing, sales and revenue management positions. Before being appointed CEO of the cruise line, Bubolz served as vice president of sales and business planning at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd, NCL's umbrella company. Among his most outstanding achievements was the creation of the Commercial Business Planning department in 2015.

He combines teaching, research and consultancy on the main themes of the travel and tourism macro-industry and cultural productions with operational interventions in the organisation of major events. Over the years, he has carried out numerous research and in-depth studies on behalf of public administrations, Italian and foreign companies and groups, associations, consortia and other representative bodies. He is the author, co-author or editor of numerous articles and writings on cruise and sea tourism. The publications also include texts on tourism marketing, conference tourism, cultural productions and the relationship between cinema, tourism and territories. He is the creator and organiser of Italian Cruise Day, the annual reference forum for the cruise industry in Italy launched by Risposte Turismo in 2011.

With many years of experience in the tourism sector, Fabio Candiani - born 48 years ago in Milan - has held increasing roles in some of Italy's leading networks and tour operators, until he became Sales Director of ITN Travel Network in 2008 and later of Uvet Network SpA. He joined MSC Cruises in 2015 and has been Director of Sales and Network Italy for 4 years.

Carlo Schiavon

Costa Cruises Country Manager Italy

Carlo Schiavon, born in Venice in 1961, is Country Manager Italy for Costa Cruises. With around forty years' experience in the tourism sector, including twenty-five years at Costa Crociere, he began his career in 1980 at Gastaldi Tours in Venice. After several years of development and training in the sector, in January 1993, fascinated by the cruise world, he joined Costa Crociere in Genoa, where he actively contributed to organising its commercial structure. His experience at Costa continued until 2011 when he chose to move in a new direction by taking on the role of General Manager Operations for Valtur. In 2013, he made his comeback at Costa Crociere as Sales and Marketing Director for Italy, followed a few years later by his appointment as Country Manager, a role he continues to hold today. Throughout his career, Carlo Schiavon has actively participated in the development and growth of Italian tourism.

First Class degree in Foreign Languages and Literature from Turin University, started her career while at University in the sales department of a Timber Import/Export Business rising to Commercial Manager. In 1990 moved into Publishing and until 2005 worked as Editor on TTG Italia, working with overseas journals (Echo Touristique, France and Fvw, Germany). Attended a finance seminar for journalists at the Milan Stock Exchange. Since 2003 has worked with Il Sole 24 Ore on the tourism page.
