Milan, 30 November 2017 – Time to seize the opportunities that come along with the winter holidays and the operators are already projected towards the first important business event in 2018:

Bit – The International Tourism Exchange, which will take place at Fieramilanocity and MiCo from Sunday 11 to Tuesday 13 February.


In the meantime, the list of Italian and international institutional exhibitors is getting longer and will enrich an offering in which all the operators of the industry are well represented. Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia will represent Northern Italy. Next year, these two regions will be particularly under the spotlight for the celebrations of the hundredth anniversary of the end of World War I. It will be an opportunity to rediscover places and routes that have made Italy’s history. Molise, a microcosm that brings climate, atmospheres, and tastes from the North, South, Adriatic coast, and Apennines together, will be next season’s true discovery. Sardinia, which aims at enhancing the value of its cultural and archaeological heritage, in addition to its beach destinations, deserves special attention.


Two countries will make their return to the event after two years. We are talking about the Canary Islands, with its beaches and unique landscapes, and the Maldives, a tropical paradise, which aims at being the best destination for those who base their holidays on nature and sustainability. Mediterranean destinations, such as Jordan, Israel, and Tunisia are gaining popularity, even thanks Bit, which is the point of reference for this area. Even Russia is becoming an international favourite.


Other long-standing destinations, such as Cuba, Sri Lanka, or Turkey, and emerging ones, such as Guatemala, for those who love Central America, and Japan, ideal for those who prefer cultural holidays, will make their appearance. A private operator will represent Portugal.


The presence of the United States in the 2018 edition will get stronger after the results achieved in 2017. In fact, they decided to strengthen their partnership with Bit 2018 through a co-marketing project, which will involve 100 Travel Agencies.


The Leisure and MICE are also getting more successful, thanks to a special project supervised by an Advisory Board. Confirmations come also from areas, such as Bit4Job (an area where supply and demand meet), A Bit of Taste (food and wine tourism), I Love Wedding (Destination Wedding and honeymoons), and Be Tech (innovative solutions). The event has also confirmed the mixed formula. Sunday, the trade fair will be open to travellers.


Bit is always more focused also on the world of Travel Agencies. In fact, this year, a new event will make its first appearance. We are talking about the Travel Agent Academy, a 4-session format (each session will last one hour) that will give the opportunity to learn more about this world. Participants can join the Academy on Monday 12 to Tuesday 13. The Academy is addressed to 200 Travel Agencies, selected based on the quality and number of the services provided. It will also involve small travel agencies, which have stood out for their customer satisfaction, and will provide high-level professional training to improve the agencies’ performance and margins. These training sessions will focus on 2018 new regulations, and technological and technical development.


Training and conference sessions confirm to be Bit 2018’s strength, even for the next edition. The travel alliance entered into with Givi, Guida Viaggi’s and About Hotel’s publishing house, will support research and the selection of high-end content organised in four areas.

Training: technical content for Travel Agents and Hotels;

Hot Topics: the area that will significantly change the market. One example is Online Insurance, a meeting that will focus on where and how to subscribe a policy, showing how we can benefit from B2B integration;

The ultimate initiatives: events dedicated to the next season, from new itineraries to themed hotels (wine or gourmet hotels) and the new tour operators’ programming in a busy schedule of 10-minute presentations;

Technology: Innovative solutions to meet customers’ requirements. We will talk about Kids who were born in the year 2000 and will become adults this year, to identify the first generation of all-digital clients and Travel Agents, or about Predictive analysis, yes, we can do it, an overall view of how and why TA and Tour Operators can benefit from big data analyses to predict consumers’ behaviours.


The overall growth expected for Bit 2018 is underscored by industry operators with renewed satisfaction: according to an independent survey conducted by GRS Explori, 89.3% of exhibitors say they are satisfied and 87.4% consider the event important for their business. Among professional visitors, 75% state that they prefer the current location, confirming the importance of holding a tourism event in a city as lively and dynamic as Milan.
